Barcelona

If you want to go travelling. And have no clue where to go.

Go to Barcelona.

I did it. Now you have to as well.

For me- to share my best tips and advice, I will share my itinerary and tell you what was good and what did not need to happen and hopefully when you go. You can look back on this page and have an even more amazing trip 😇.

Day 1 Of Barcelona

Arrive at 10.

Go to Mercat De La Boqueria

Check in Airbnb

Go to Casa Batllo

Go to Casa Mila

Go watch FC Barcelona play.

So when we arrived in Barcelona, instead of getting an Uber to the centre, we caught a bus. The ticket cost £7 and the journey was around 30 mins. Because there was time to spare, we went to a locker to put our bags away whilst we walked around.

Our first pit-stop was Mercat De La Boqueria, which was absolutely stunning. It wasn’t like your basic British food market which can often smell like fish, instead it had more of a “warmth” sense to it.

Honestly I dunno what I’m on about. But it was way better than an English market. Food was fresh, loads of meats. Was good vibes overall.

I couldn’t decide what I wanted in the market . But we ended up in a small restaurant on the outside of the market where I had a nice baguette sandwich and sangria 😍😍😍.

7.5/10

After lunch, we checked in our Airbnb.

Now our Airbnb was not in central Barcelona, it was in Premia De Mar-  a 30min train to central Barcelona.. on a good day. The Airbnbs and hotels in Barcelona were wayyy too expensive- the amount we ended up paying for the 4 nights was closer to the price it was to spend in central for one night. Especially with the fact we were rarely in the Airbnb, it was worth it overall.

#iloveairbnb

TIP 1: Stay in an Airbnb and not a hotel, also do not stay in the centre.

Tip 2: Buy a fruit drink from La Boqueria market as I was craving one later in the week.

Before arriving, I had messaged all my friends that had been to Barcelona about their recommendations. And they had reccomended Casa Mila but not Casa Batlló. Even when I was looking at reviews, Casa Mila was favoured a lot more.

They were only a 10 min walk from each other, so Casa Batllo we had a look on the outside- and Casa Mila we went in and had the audio guide for everything.

Casa Mila I rate a 8/10

It was interesting about the architectural history behind it, and there was a lot to see. I’m normally one that’s interested in history when it comes to pst events than about textiles. But it was interesting to hear and see the backstory of that wonderful building.

Casa Batllo, - I do not have any regrets about not going  inside. But the outside was pretty so I give it 7.8/10 just because Casa Mila treated me better xoxo

Ticket for Casa Mila cost: £15.87 (it was worth it)

TIP 3: Casa Mila OVER Casa Batlló

Me on the top of Casa Mila

The kind of models they had on the inside
Casa Batllo

At the end, we went to an FC Barcelona match in the Estadi Olímpic Liuís Companys whilst Camp Nou was under renovation.  A ticket had cost around £70 (Asa correct me if I am wrong).

It was sooo busy.

I did have low expectations of it being in a small stadium with majority empty seats. Nah uh. It was packed. The crowds had the best attitude. Everyone was passionate. I saw Lamine Yamal play. Don't mean to big myself up, but I'm pretty sure in a couple years time- when i tell my future Kids, it will be the same as if i was telling you guys that I saw Messi play. I said it.

The score was 5:0, so of course it was an entertaining match.

8.5/10

TIP 4: BRING ALOT OF CASH. Everyone had an FC Barcelona shirt, I felt a little left out. People would sell them on the street, however they only accepted cash and I didn’t have enough. So bring cash.

Overall for the first day, It was AMAZING! A good start to one of the bestest trips of ma life. 8.5/10.

Final Tip: Go to Barcelona.

Day Number 2

*I forgot to mention, for travel- there is a special green card option you can get for 5 days. Which we bought, which obviously made travelling cheaper as a whole. This could be used on the bus aswell. But generally the best way to get around is the metro and the card helped soooo much. I'm pretty sure it's an all year thing, and easy to find in the station- just on a separate machine to buy.

Anyways back to Day 2

So our first stop was Palau de la Musica Catalana, which is an opera house. It is very pretty inside. Not that busy aswell. It was quite a quick visit, because all there was- was the main opera room and the balcony. I might be wrong, perhaps we missed out on something. However it was genuinely quite quick. They had a cafe downstairs, did not pop in but yeah. If you want a pretty picture, by all means go there. However a ticket cost £15.87, which from my experience did not match up to it. It should be at least £5-£8. It was cute however, I am glad we went. For the prettiness and price, I would give it a 6/10.

Around the area, we visited a few shops and a 10-15 minute walk away, was the kiss of freedom wall. The visit was for free. It's a wall of 2 lips kissing just there lol. But the wall is made up of small little pictures that you would get on tumblr. So I would rate this a 7/10. A good pit stop.

After this visit, we went on our way to Parc Guell + Gaudi House. Before this trip, I was watching so many videos and tips about going to Barcelona, in which I found out to NOT WALK THERE. So I was prepared.

The 2 tips I received was:

- To get to Park Guell, from Placa de Catalunya take bus number 24. Go until you reach CN Catalunya- Park Guell station (16 stops- approx 25 minutes).

- From train, get off the lesserps stop.

We took the bus route, and thank God we did. Everything is uphill, it saved us so much travel. Go get the bus when you go to Park Guell.

I can't comment on the train route as I did not take it. But I THINK we took the train on the way back and had to walk down the hill which was fine, but obvi going up would be a different story. So I would say- Bus Is Better.

Parc Guell is very pretty, a lot of different textiles around. Colourful as well. When we arrived, it started raining sadly. But that did not differentiate how pretty it was.

Tip Number I forgot: BRING EXTRA CASH. Locals would be outside selling umbrellas, thankfully I had spare cash to get one. But if I didn't have any- I would not of enjoyed the trip as much.

But yh, Park Guell and the house. Very pretty. Very insightful, especially about Gaudi's life. I would rate a 8.5/10. It cost £12.24, which was worth it in my opinion. I find it weird that the opera house was more expensive... perhaps I missed something out but I don't think so.

If you go to Barcelona, defo go there.

After this, we went back to the bnb and got ready to go out.

Clubbing

To

Shoko.

I won't say much on this. But is it very good. We had free entry.

TIP: Follow Aashi's List on insta for discounts. Do not ask for doubles. The single they serve, is a double pretty much.

The only reason I would go back to Barcelona, is to purely go back for Shoko and the food. And then I'd get a plane back. 9/10.

Day 3 In Barcelona

FC Barcelona Tour. Was cool. My eyes started watering when I watched a video of the Trident (Messi, Neymar Jr and Suárez. It did make we want to raise my son with Project Messi. Was really cool seeing the history of everything, and how everything changed. For example the first football shoes to now- was like wowww glow up. I rate is a 8.7/10. Defo go. £16.71 it cost. If it was a pound cheaper, It would be even more worth it.

After the tour, we had a bit of a break before Sagrada Familia. So we visited the Arc de Triomf ( Forgive the insta, I thought it would be spelled the same as the one in France aha. But that was cute. 8/10. Free, pretty, and a good location.

A 10-15 min walk from the Arc is Parc De La Cuitadella. Free. Beautiful. Probably in my top 3 places. Took so many nice pictures there. Good vibes overall. Small outdoor cafe. It was worth it. 9/10. Definitely go when you have the chance.

Now the ending, was the bestest thing ever.

Sagrada Familia. £26.10

If you have only seen the outside. You need to go back and go inside. I felt God there. I went to the separate praying room cause it felt sooo holy. I was bam wam shocked. It was stunning. I loved it. I would live there. I want it. I am greatful that God gave architects skills and hands to create beauties like this church. Thank God for Gaudi. The building, was like heaven. It showed the beauty of God and his creation.

100/10.

Go.

TIP: Book these tickets earlyyyyy, thankfully I found some second hand. But it was a little bit more expensive than the prices on the actual website. Also there was a phattt chance it wouldn't of worked. So do book in advance, at least 2 week in advance.

After Sagrada, we went around the barceloneta beach. good vibes. We had a meal at this rlly cool place called Carabela. Lots of ppl around our age. The most beautiful cocktails. Now I'm thinking about it. I genuinely think I will buy. a 3 day ticket. Just to go to Shoko and the Carabela. 11/10. nahhhh take me backkkkk

Day 4 In Barcelona

Casa Vicens

- I believe this was Guadi's first house he created.. if not one of the first. Pretty, a little bit in the outskirts. But it was lush.

After we then passed around Barrio Gótico and checked out the Barcelona Cathedral. It quite busy around here, we were there midday so perhaps that's why. But it was pretty to check around. £13.31 it cost. Worth it.

We then visited the Museo Nacional d'Art de Catalunya which was cool. I was quite tired by this point from walking around sooo much but it was decent. You wouldn't miss out, if you didn't go here- however it did include a lot of history so if that's more your niche. Then do go. The views were very pretty from the balcony, however we had heard so much about the bunkers we decided to give the bunkers a go for their "amazing views". It cost £7, I reckon it is worthy of costing £5. Don't mean to sound picky ahaha, but that is just my opinion.

We took the train up, however still had to walk up for around 20 mins i'd say. There is a bus that goes righttt next to the bunkers so defo take that instead. But on the way down, get a train or bus. I did not know that this place was where bunkers would be during the Spanish Civil war, I just thought it was called Bunkers ahaha. But it was cool, nice views. Bring snacks along. It was packed with soo many young people aswell. I would say it is worth it. If you don't have to travel much. The journey there was around an hour , so id rate it a 7/10, Free to get in.

For our last night out, we went to Shoko again. And i'll leave it there. As you know my opinions about it.

The next morning (before we would catch our flight). We went to the balloon Museum ( £17.96), it was lush. A lot of interactive stuff to do. With balloons. It was cool. For £17 I don't think it was worth it, it should be at least £10 however it was a good end to our journey before we took our flight.

And that is the end of my Barcelona Blog.

The flights in October time from the 1st-5th was £43.60 which was amazinggg. So going in October time is perfect, the weather is also still a little warm. The airbnb was £181.29 each for the 4 nights. And the itinerary cost £125.07 . I might be really wrong, but from Google i believe the travel card for 5 days was £33. So in total the whole trip cost around : £382.96 (Excluding going out taxi's and food).
